Although your specification of it being the best variant of lichess leaves out Seirawan Chess which I highly approve of, It's a bold statement when ya have not played rated horde or much of the actual best variant 9lx :) Good article nonetheless :D
Due to there being a scarcity of regular crazyhouse team battles on Lichess (apart from the Nations League), I took it upon myself to create one.
So far we have had some really fun tournaments with a wide range of players taking part and some big upsets!

It is indeed a bold statement, and I agree that should Seirawan Chess be available here, it would be right up there with crazyhouse as one of the best variants! Of course you *might* be a little biased as you are currently running the Seirawan Chess World Championship (which by the way was great fun to be involved in thank you!) and I can't wait for next year's edition! When is the final by the way? Have they played yet?
Rated horde? I think I would rather poke my eye out with a spoon :D And 9lx/ 960? Hmm also a bit disturbing as I usually hang a piece in the opening because they are all in the wrong place to start with!

If you get out of the opening without blundering anything I will concede you can have interesting and unique middle game positions in 960, but that's a big "if"!
