No Nonsense Nona

in which episode of the queen Gambit is there a mention of her? I did not recall a mention to any actual historical figure. I thought it was fiction, probably inspired by more than one historical figure and combined in one character.

To show something that ought to have been natural, women playing chess at all levels.

I appreciate the heads up. I am curious of non-tournament chess traditions (as in learning to play it at home) around the world, and I found that it is interesting to hear about Georgian women having had such culture.

I don't think one can built chess practice at population level from the elite version down, maybe internet helps with the notion of one influencer reaching through the physical locality constraints, but I think have a base of the "iceberg" already healthy in size, might make the tips more persistent and visible.

It was a short game which fits in my attention span, and it was really interesting to infer the clearance vision that might have been there. (the comment about light square weakness even though a whole board statement, did help putting one's mind above which material in on board, as it was a pawn structure destruction job).

Should one make any comment about aggressiveness on the board being related to out of the board tendencies?

That this is in the picture might be restricting at population level.. Always confusing board rule-set with personality outside the board... I ask myself and now others.
It is very interesting to see how history and not very long-ago history is being tailored. Bykova, Gaprindashvili and Chiburdanidze were Soviet World champions.
On all the other aspects thanks for interesting article.
At the age of 81 years old it is very hard to play chess. I am very impressed this is a shock to me.
Even though she, sacrifised a lot of pieces(2-3) I was amazed by how she was able to win by checkmate!
I respect her and she very much deserve to be a WGM. Though, I think her FIDE rating should be higher.
