As for the critique, it had a nice and welcoming introduction and went over a fairly simple, yet important step.
I really like that you emphasized that one should learn about the background, the history of a language - a point with which I couldn't agree more!
I also like your approach to learning a language: "Learn it when you want to learn it and leave it when you want to leave it."
One thing I would add, however, is that one should also try to actively use the language you're learning.
But you more or less said it already.
