Staines and Runneymede Chess Club

Dear Chess Player

Thank you for joining Staines and Runnymede Chess Online, whether you are an existing member of Staines Chess Club or new for online chess. I am referring to ourselves as Staines and Runnymede Chess Online since we are the only chess club in the whole area of North West Surrey covering the boroughs of Runnymede and Spelthorne as well as neighbouring areas such as Sunningdale and Virginia Water in the west and then east to Sunbury-on-Thames so we cover a wide geographical area. However, online we are not limited to geography. All are welcome including all friends of Staines Chess Club, present and past players.

Of course, the aim of any sporting game is to win but there is also an important aspect which should not be overlooked and that, regardless of result, is to enjoy. I hope that you may spend many enjoyable hours at the wonderful intellectual challenge of chess!

A membership list with names, Lichess usernames and email addresses will be circulated. Currently, we will continue to meet online at Lichess (lichess.org) Monday evenings from 7.30pm onwards. However, you are not limited to this time. You are able to play any club member at anytime by making arrangements via email. (I am aware of personal data protection issues and anyone who does not wish their email address to be circulated to members should contact me accordingly).
Club competitions will be organised and, potentially, matches and events with other clubs will also be organised as opportunities arise. I will keep you informed of any forthcoming competition.
