Horsey chess open.

5 members

7 round Swiss. Two sections: 1900+ and U1900 based on FIDE standard ratings.

Pairings will be done on Sunday evenings and players must contact their opponent to arrange a day and time for the game. They must have played the game and submitted the result by 5pm the following Sunday. Games must be played on lichess, and both players should email the result and game URL to the controllers.

Time control is 45+5 and pairings will be done based on FIDE ratings. Where a player does not have a FIDE rating, the controllers may choose to use ECF online ratings or converted ECF standard play grades where appropriate.

Entry is £5 per person and 50% of all entry money will be guaranteed for prizes, including grading prizes, junior prizes and female prizes, dependant on entries.

Lichess anti-cheating regulations apply at all times and the controllers reserve the right to subsequently check games if we suspect cheating. If lichess decides to close a player‘s account, the player in question must appeal through lichess if they do not believe they have broken the anti-cheating regulations. If a player suspects an opponent of cheating, the player should email the controllers who will then check the games themselves. The controller’s decision is final.

If both players wish to, they may video call during the game, to discourage cheating, as well as for a post-game analysis.

Players must enter by 2pm on Sunday 6th September and the first round pairings will be published no later than 7pm that day. The prizes will be announced shortly after entries close. Prize winners will be announced 7 days after the final game has been played, to allow lichess to close accounts and any appeals that may be necessary.
