have a Mac? Please help with browser notifications

I'm trying to track down a local issue where I don't get web notifications of opponent moves in correspondence chess unless I have the game open in a backgrounded tab.

Can someone else with a Mac confirm if safari or chrome notifications work when there is no lichess.org page open? If you get a chance please let me know whether it works for you or not... Bonus points for including macOS and browser version!

The relevant technical term is "service workers". Do you have Safari 11.1 or above?

If it's a service worker implementation then I suppose they are at a browser's discretion, but is this not done with APNs for iOS and Safari?
