I have found the perfect term for annoying chess gawkers

A gawker is a spectator - a chess gawker would be somebody watching a chess game. Gawker isn't a complimentary way to refer to a person...

A Kibitzer is a Yiddish term for a spectator, usually one who offers (often unwanted) advice or commentary. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kibitzer
I forget who said it, but it was something like 'a kibitzer looks upon a knight stronger than he plays it'.

edit: *wikipedia and I disagree, looks like.

I read that the etymology is Yiddish, most likely from kibbutz (a communal farm). The original usage
might have had a shade of rural disdain to it, like referring to someone as a hick from the sticks.
