? ! ? ! Crazy optical illusion ? ! ? !

This is wild, maybe someone smart in optics can explain.

I purchased a new humidifier for my bedroom. There is a white light beneath the power button that is too distracting in the dark. I put two hot pink post-it notes on top of it. I had scribbled in black sharpie all over both post-its. That cut down the ambient light to a good level.

Tonight I did the same thing but I used lime green post-it notes instead of hot pink, I scribbled them again with the Sharpie. I turned off the light and got in bed. I decided to stare at the green-gray light from the power button. In my adapting dark vision, the power button slowly crept -u-p- the wall about a foot! I did it four times in a row. It did not happen when I had used the hot pink post-its. Maybe an illusion with my brain and green light and the rods and cones in my eyes. Who can explain?

I'm very near-sighted, humidifier is 8 feet away from me, the light is a blur to me, not sharp.
1 foot on 8 feet distance is a difference of the viewing angle of about 7º. Are you sure that your head didn't go down slowly by that slight angle when you were lying in your bed in the dark?
Thar be no illusion, thar be a malevolent spirit come to steal yer soul laddy!

It's either a hallucination or illusion. Try the same thing in daylight.
For the very act of hallucination has been influstered to you by the evil spirit J.K. Rowling, as I swear by God almighty and so sabotage me God: and her deplorable minions of both mischief and eternal detriment! To the gallows with you! The Gallows, the Gallows, the Sacred Gallows!

Well I'm no master of optics but it occurs to me that this seems to be a refraction phenomenon possibly related to the moisture waves of the humidifier combined with the particular sensitivity of the human eye to wavelengths of a particular frequency of light hence hue.
Or it might be demons.
Probably not.
demons
I mean
Probably not
You never know
