Registration for Season 5 of Crazyhouse League is open!

Hey,

Did you know about the crazyhouse league, that has been run on Lichess4545’s Slack? Probably not, let me tell you about it: Lichess4545 is a classical chess league, which has several sub-leagues; for instance, they have one for chess960 and one for crazyhouse.

The crazyhouse league tried out a team format for last season. Whereas the previous seasons had been individual competitions with the members of Lichess4545 community, this last season featured a team format and some crazyhouse players were invited. The board 1 players were @JKtheBullFrog, @Mugwort, @RapidVariants and me. You can see the rosters here: zh.lakin.ca/zhteam/season/4/rosters/.

Time control was 5+5 for board 1, 6+6 for board 2, 7+7 for board 3 and so on. Each match consisted of 2 games against your corresponding board opponent (B1 v B1, B2 v B2 etc). The past season was a test run to make sure everything is working accordingly, and now for this upcoming season, the registration will be open for everyone.

Season 5 will, tentatively, run from April 24 to May 22 and the first week will be dedicated for team creation. Time control is not confirmed yet; if it’s not the same as last season, it will be rapid, nevertheless.

If you would like to participate and play 2 rapid crazyhouse games a week, register here: zh.lakin.ca/zhteam/register/.
There are five boards per team, ranging from ~1300 to ~2600. That means you would play players of similar strength / rating range.

I personally think the league is a great environment for improvement; the team aspect gives you motivation, stronger players can help/give tips to lower rated players in the team and it is rapid time control, which _should_ force you to think.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them! If I don't know the answer, I'll pass the question on to the league moderators.
Is it necessary to have an account on Slack in order to play this league?
Yes, it is. All communications will take place over the Lichess4545 Slack and players must abide by the Slack’s rules. @Deadban.

If you're familiar with Discord, then Slack is a business/corporate version of it. Whereas, Discord is advertised to gamers and gaming communities.

However, it is free to use. You can use it on a browser or on a phone app. Once your registration has been approved, you'll be invited to Slack - it might take a couple of days.
Great, glad to have you on board!

Registration will be open until Wednesday, April 24. You can sign up afterwards too; however, then you'll be an alternative player, because the team formation will start.

“If you’ve joined the league after the team rosters have been announced or have otherwise failed to qualify for the tournament on time, you still have a chance of participating in the league as an “Alternate Player”. Alternates are an important part of league activity and may become new members of established teams should an existing member of the league drop out. When an established team player is unable to play a game, we look for an alternate (either permanently or temporarily) to join the team.” ~ lichess4545.com
There’s still time to register! Registration ends today, unless the mods decide to extend it. 40+ people have signed up so far, which means that the league size is doubled compared to the last season.

I have to admit the advertisement is getting out of hand …
