Interesting idea to say the least, though I would want to ask whether someone did check all of the left/unbanned openings to their balance? As for example some openings if not given permission to counter them on first move might become overpowered throughout the game, giveing unfair advantage to either of the sides.

Yes, we had a few arenas with similar restrictions in the past to check.
