Blocked from moving a piece for several minutes.

I was unable to make a move - the system was not frozen nor off line. I could select the piece but was unable to move it or any of my other pieces when I tried. There were several minutes left on the clock when this incident occurred. I advised my chess opponent to let them know what was happening at my end (that I simply couldn't move.) Seconds before time ran out another move occurred on the board but I lost on time. It was very strange and I don't understand it - has anyone encountered such a situation? System appeared to be functioning because opponent and I were able to talk on the system and it allowed me to go on to the next game.
Did you refresh the page?

I would guess most of the time, this is a mistake on the user's side of things, like trying illegal moves (not seeing a check, trying to move a pinned piece, or having navigated to a previous position in the game. Or your connection was broken.

This is not what the game clocks say, which have you timed out with 4:29 on the last move.
I'm still waiting for the day they bring the touch-move rule into online chess. Then if you touch a piece you'll have to move it.
That would apply to right-click for drawing arrows, only left click for moving.

(They could inroduce a "j'adoube'" button but I doubt there would really be a need for one)
Did you ever see Reconnecting in the bottom left?
