Hi! Maybe sometime in the future lichess can not only make more 3D pieces designs but a 3D board! It would help OTB players play to their full strength if they don't play online that much.
One could use a DGT Electronic Board. Won't get more 3D than a real thing. Not cheap, but a possibility.

Is there any app that converts a still or camera image to a chess position? There are already apps with good recognition for other board games so maybe also for chess..?
3d doesnt translate too well into a monitor. You can go to the menu by clicking your username --> Geometry --> 3d.
Its there, but it has never been good in any chess software. Get a dgt or play the moves in a real board and just translate it to the pc when you do a move.
