I love the World Cup! It's the closest battle we have nowadays to war between countries. With so many countries like Brazil, Germany, Uruguay, etc that have a national identity entailing soccer, it really brings to life an aspect of nationalism and athleticism through that common denominator of soccer fanaticism. In our modern times, real war is simply never going to happen. The age of conquest through war is simply over. We may have little insignificant conflicts in S America and Africa and parts of Asia...and maybe even some conflicts and unrest in the most deplorable, uncivilized, and impoverished parts of Europe....but on the whole, the age of war is over!! Hence, what do we have to pass the time in such a way that we can revel in the nationalism and superiority of one nation over the other!?? Well....that answer to that question is sports....and thankfully there is a sport that nations take seriously enough to really allow their inner animalistic nature to take over for a little while...soccer!

The only thing better than watching a little bit of fun nationalism play out is also watching while making money off of it. Hence, as a public service here are the teams I expect to make some money off of this World Cup:

1) Germany
2) Mexico
3) Russia
4) Uruguay
5) Japan
6) Argentina
7) Switzerland
8) Portugal
9) Spain

I expect these teams to be consistent here on out and allow for good sports betting!! I made about $6,000 on the last World Cup.....I expect at least $8,000 this time around....already up $1,000....slow start but we'll see what happens!

What if I told you that neither of these countries would win?

I could believe that....who knows Sweden, England, S Korea....any of these could conceivably win, but these mentioned 9 teams are what I expect to make money off due to their consistency.

Okay, being serious I think either Mexico or Spain or maybe Germany if they get their act together.

I don't think Spain or Mexico have what it takes to win this World Cup. Playing for a national team is always different than playing for your respective clubs. Spain has too many club players with multi million dollar contracts. They're not going to risk injury. Mexico simply doesn't have the talent except for Hernandez....and I don't him risking injury either. I see Germany as a real competitor because they seem to put national fervor ahead of their respective clubs....but I think Sweden could win everything here....that's a dark horse that really looks interesting!!
