According to Reddit Lichess had changed the matching system

According to a post on Reddit Lichess is now similar to chess.com in that you can no longer choose to play against players higher rated than yourself. You can only play against others at the same rating range as yourself. According to people who posted there this change is not welcomed because it encourages cheating because sandbagging becomes more of a problem as this would game the system in favor of players who would take advantage of this.
@Curious1 It is true that such a change was pushed through backdoor (yesterday or today, I'm not sure), without any consultation with the community. Sadly, lichess decided to mimick chess.com in punishing players who want to learn from the stronger opponents and restricting our freedom of choice. It is painful to see such degradation of (until recently) the greatest existing chess website. When I wrote about this, the developer said that nobody will miss me here! Pathetic, isn't it? Actually, though, I don't sincerely think that this change will encourage cheating or sandbagging.
@Otienimous

To be fair, you didn't only write about it, you ''threatened'' to leave lichess

"I mean, if you don't revert these absurd changes, there are other chess sites. Until today, Lichess was by far the best one, but now... I'm not a patron, so good riddance for me, but I'm sure that many patrons will feel the same!"

That's when the siteowner wished you the best of luck on other sites.

It's fine if you voice your opinion but please dont twist the facts
@deviance

You are right that we should keep to the facts. I don't think I "threatened to leave" (it would be no substantial threat, because I'm not a patron...), I only stated that Lichess has lost much of its advantage over the other chess websites. Nevertheless, even if my words can be read and interpreted just as you did it, I don't think it makes suggesting me to leave without referring to my arguments any more honourable. What is your opinion?
I still see seeks from people rated over 500 points below me in the lobby, hows that possible>?
@deviance Indeed, I do see these seeks too. I don't know how that's possible, maybe it's some form of a bug. After all, the developers did not bother to explain anything to us, so we can only guess...
This change is very bad. I want to learn from stronger player
I'm trying to figure out if moving the sliding indicators on both sides to the extreme middle means we only see players with the EXACT rating points we have to get a challenge in the lobby. If that's the case then the total number of players we get in the seek lobby should be zero. Because nobody will have the exact rating we have individually to get listed in the lobby to play. That's if the new change in the seek formula is supposed to work in theory.
@Curious1 ah, your guess is as good as any at this point... unless +-0 is a strange way to actually say "no restriction", in which case it's simply a terrible UI decision, I'm not sure what it can possibly achieve to set both sliders at minimum
