Should I vote for Bernie?

28
2 (and a half) things:
1) Personally, I believe that a large part of the balanced budget was due to the tax hike that potentially cost HW a second term. It's hard to prove either way (and I haven't really taken the time to dive deep into that particular rabbit hole), and Clinton did have to keep expenditures in check in order to achieve that, but I think Bush deserves more credit than he gets.

1.5) (side rant) We need more genuine presidents these days. It seems that the past few presidents have been more focused on reelection than on the state of the nation. Compare that with HW Bush's tax hike, or LBJs declining to run for reelection in order to focus on Vietnam. Both could have won another 4 years, but both decided to do what they thought was best for the country.
That's one thing I will give Bernie: dude seems genuine. I don't think that his policies would be best for the country, but he sure as hell does, and that counts for something.

2) (somewhat related to 1.5) Dubya always seemed like one of the more genuine presidents. I don't think he was lying about WMDs; I think that he really believed it to some degree. Not sure if that's better or worse.
@clousems: No, all cons (conservatives) don't have the same views, of course, just as all "dems" don't chain themselves to trees to save them. When I say cons are anti labor, anti environment, anti regulation, in whatever ways helps Big Money, I'm generally referring to those behind the curtain coming up with schemes like denying science, swift boat veterans for the truth (lol), etc. and not everyday Joe's out there.

"Con" is often used as a short for conservative. Sadly, the derogatory connotation often fits those at the controls behind the green curtain. But Toto has not pulled that curtain aside for too many folks. And others heed the shouted instruction: "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"

Yes Bush sr. raised taxes, making Clinton's terms look better, since the government had more revenue, and the debt was going down and would have been paid in, I believe, about 16years. Reagan, Bush Jr., and Bone Spur all lowered taxes, mostly benefiting the wealthy.

@colonel_krunch

98-plus percent of Democrats are just as slimy as 99.7% of Republicans, with minor differences. They're warmongering, corporate sellout, petty partisan, unprincipled pricks.

Humanity's number one priority is changing from the Industrial Revolution notion of Earth and everything it consists of being there for the use and abuse of man to valuing the only known (human) life-supporting planet. We're shitting the nest. About half the population doesn't give a shit because they believe they're going to be happier than hell in the prophesized next life. Money, things, power, convenience, arrogance, stupidity, etc don't help.
Now there's a clever argument- same one Bone Spur used: "There was bad people on both sides." That is, the side who killed, and the side who did not.
@Crapablanca64 "...but i think it shows a lack of character in Sanders for him not to disavow them."

Because the more he disavows them the more times the concern tr*lls will demand that he do so over and over. Bernie has to explain and apologize for a random staffer's bar talk? Really? Maybe listen to what Sanders is saying instead?

It's about pushing the whole 'scary commie Bernie' narrative, you think he's interested in going down that road by engaging it and 'responding' every time Project Veritas, a known right wing propaganda outfit, demands that he 'has to'? He's simply not dumb enough to take the bait for such an obvious trap.

I've decided to vote for him in the primary. I still doubt the Democratic Party will let him have the nomination.
