64 chapters

I know that this was asked so many times, but anyway 64 chapters is much too small amount.
If you create Study for some Theoretical Variation you would need more.
From lichess perspective it doesn't give any benefits to have just 64 chapters. In this case users are just creating multiple studies instead of one and studies became like "Ruy Lopez Study - 1", "Ruy Lopez Study - 2" etc. Instead those could be combined just in one study. Just increase number to 100 maybe or something would be already helpfull.

the reason why it is limited to 64 is to prevent spam removing the limit allows people to spam again and making a new study is not the end of the world you just put a link in the chat and done
The feature request here is actually, "I've got lots and lots of data... how do I curate it?"

Studies are at most 64 chapters because without reasonable limits, the site crashes. We need to find some alternate solution for what you're asking for.
The thing is 64 limit is simply too low. Just make it 256. Almost all of the use cases will be covered and 99.99% of users will be happy.

I do not understand this. From development perspective for you it doesn't matter if there are 100 chapters in one study or there are two studies with 50 chapters. Is not it?! I do not believe it will increase performance etc. if you increase numbr from 64 to X (like 100 or even 200).
64 is really too low. If you think as a ches splayer and imagine study on Ruy Lopez or something less huge like Petroff, you will easily found out that 64 is too small.

I also do not believe in spaming, why you would spam in your studies? You are just creating them with some logic. Not sure. Maybe you have experience.

I would rather suggest to make feature "remove unused studies". So if study is not opened for 1 year you can suggest user to delete it.

The reason is if lichess increase to 100 200 256
It would increase the load on the drives as reading 100 chapters fulled with moves arrows and comments is alot for 1 person now imagine if 100 people do it then we have a ddos attack hence why #4 meantioned the server crashing
You just have to name your chapters a1, b1, .... g8, h8. No possibility to exceed that.
there is a way to add lines within a chapter, but its a bit clunky to use if you are inexperienced like me.
looking at existing studies, it seems like most everyone except some study pros are struggling with that.
guess it revolves around which moves you record and which you dont, so you dont accidentially get junk lines. obviously if you make a chapter for each line you dont have that problem (edit: and its more mobile-friendly).

on the other hand you dont have good options (or any) to bundle multiple studies other than naming them similar, so searching and favouriting becomes a bit of a hassle if the studies are split up too much. this is the actual problem imho. its almost useless and at least very slow to search by user if that user has 200 studies.

were there better group and/or search options (e.g. username+sicilian) you would be free to either go through the hassle to add the lines perfectly recorded or just make 10 different studies on the same subject. now you are kinda forced to keep it compact.
users try to bypass this by adding forward links, intertwining links within the chapters or even complete link register studies (cf jomega).

i agree something should be done. not sure if having more chapters accomplishes the task of keeping things simple. imo it feels more like you dig your grave even deeper.
but don't you feel like people would then not be keen to click a link go to another study, and then if they put the link in chat and other people look at it and type in chat slowly but surely the link would be unfindable @for_cryingout_loud
