@CounterBlitzkrieg it is to prevent a situation whereby, in a 15 minute game, you are clearly losing with say 5 minutes left on the clock and instead of playing on in hope to rescue something or resigning you simply let the clock run for those 5 minutes.
If you were playing OTB chess would and were winning a game with 15 minutes left on your opponent's clock would you expect him to walk out of the playing area and simply not return and say that is acceptable?
I sometimes play Anonymous i.e. not logged in, and it's fun and you don't run into many engines but you do run into loads of quitters.
