Winning the games but losing the tournament

Here is a screenshot from a tournament I played today:

I finished in 9th place with 14 wins instead of 3rd place. 6 people with fewer wins finished above me because of the bonus points for winning streak. I understand why the admins created this feature. They wanted to discourage people from resigning immediately and moving on to the next opponent whenever they are matched against somebody they might lose.

I think there should be a better way to prevent this that doesn't have negative side effects. The current implementation is unfair to people who are winning more games than others but just not in a row. Interestingly, I don't always have such an unlucky winning streak. For example, I won this tournament lichess.org/tournament/EsK0fVcA and this tournament lichess.org/tournament/Ypfjdz2E.

The winning streak depends on my mood at that time. That means when I'm not in the right mood to score a good winning streak, my experience with lichess is not very good. Therefore, can you please change something about the winning streak bonus points? Either reduce them or remove them and add something else to prevent nexting.

Please change the rules to give this player a better chance at tournaments.
He tried his best but it wasn't good enough.
It is unfair to this player. Please change.
#1, You are severely overstating your point. It was essentially a 7-way tie for 3rd.

In fact, shall we go with something a bit more fair than "number of wins" which you so strongly care about?

How about: performance rating with at least 8 games played.

Your performance rating: 2077

#1 position performance rating: 2301
#2 position performance rating: 2275
#3 2332
#4 2313
#5 2098
#7 2208
#8 2143
#11 2108
#17 2467
#19 2164

I don't think we should reward players who spam a tournament with fast, low-quality games to try and climb the rankings.

The system rewards well-thought-out well-played games, fought bitterly to the end.
#3 the system rewards you for completing games as fast as possible.

#1 the streak system is fair because as you win and win again, you get paired with harder opponents and therefore should get more points.
And if you win 2 and then lose one, then you don't get extra points because you get an easier opponent.
