Movie reviews

Because what is a better place to review movies than on lichess?
Well, my all time favorites:

Knives Out
And Then There Were None
War For The Planet Of The Apes
Inside Man
Paddington 2
Some reviews of more recent movies (i.e. since 2010):
Invisible man: To be honest, I was watching this at a drive-in theater and got bored because nobody was doing anything interesting, so I would intermittently switch my audio to that from Trolls 2. But from what I could tell, it was boring and people looked sad. Eerily similar to CSPAN.

Suspiria remake: Inspires wrath whenever I think about it. Way too long and preachy. The original may be a classic, but that's not because of any message it had. It was because of the pretty colors. Everything in this movie was beige. Lacked atmosphere. Was about as interesting as a documentary about porridge. Made me wish I was watching Mother of Tears instead. And I hated Mother of Tears.

Every marvel cinematic universe movie: Everybody is way too happy when they are facing various apocalyptic threats. And way too many characters. And no moon knight or machine man.

Every DC cinematic movie: Always raining, but nobody ever has an umbrella. And people praise them for their realism.
While I'm on the subject of DC movies: Heath Ledger's acting in Dark Knight was only decent. Jack Nicholson was WAAY better.

That remake of predator: Did not have the line "get to the chopper" shouted by Arnold. Automatic fail.

Amour: Michael Haneke has never made a bad movie.
@clousems

IMO DC movies are all meh with exceptions of:

Batmans
Joker
Watchmen
Aquaman

Everything else is cliche, garbage, or just booooorrriiinnnnggggg
Let's be honest though, the best superhero movie of the millenium was Dredd. No plot line, no character development, no relationship issues. Just Karl Urban shooting stuff
@SlicingBishop2006 @clousems

Why do you all forget about the Harry Potter Series???

Also Jumanji movies (the video game ones) were pretty good.

For a tv series, you should watch Designated Survivor...

I liked the Marvel Universe as well.

And @clousems it's true that it's always raining in any DC movie... (but I liked Aquaman)
@SlicingBishop2006 Ok the Harry Potter books are better, no doubt, but that is only because the Harry Potter movies cut out a bunch of details that was there in the book to avoid a Sorcerer's Stone Part 1 and Sorcerer's Stone Part 2 (and so on and so forth for all the movies, until Deathly Hallows, where they somehow decided to include more details)...
Harry Potter movies are this generation's Rocky. They have no outstanding qualities, but people act like they are the greatest films of all time.
As a rule of thumb, movies with wizards aren't going to be particularly good. Fantasy is on the same level genre-wise as horror and a little below sci-fi. Only exception I can think of off the top of my head are the LoTR movies.
