2v2 mode would work like this:
Let's say its white to move. Both players have 20 seconds to select a move. During this time, StockFish runs an analysis. Once both players moved, or the time is up, Stockfish selects the moves he thinks is the best of the two.
So essentially, 2v2 means both player select a move, and the computer chose the best move of the two. This means 2 players of 1500 rating would likely play as good as a 1700 or even better.
