I don't know why but I've had 5 people abandon in a row. I'm not sure if it's cause they don't know how to play vs d4 but it's super annoying. Is there any punishment for them?

They'll get timed out (won't be able to join games) if they abandon too many games in a short period. Also, if they're joining "random" games, the system aims to balance they players black and white games, so abandoning black games until they get white will only result in them getting black more often.

I know d4 is the worst, but I still play.
I've had people abandoning if I get white in Atomic or Antichess.
