When spectating a game you should be able to resize the board. As it is right now, you must go into a new game and resize the board, then go back to the spectated game and refresh for the resize to take effect.
You can just click on your profile in top right while spectating and click on board geometry and resize it while spectating.

@rokoroks You can only resize it before the first move, unless you adjust your settings to allow resize at any time.

Yes, I no longer remember the default but it's:
Preferences, Game Display, Show Board Resize Handle. We have "always" and I'm guessing Josonic has "Only On Initial Position".
