lichess ip block

Today, I tried to host a bullet tournament with about 12 people in my school through my chess club, and when we tried to do the tournament, lichess told us that our IP was blocked b/c there were "too many requests" coming from our IP. This is a thing???

this is really freaking annoying. Now that everyone has left b/c the tournament flopped due to lichess blocking us, lichess works again. So does lichess only NOT work if too many people are logged into their accounts through the same IP address?
^ Real boards cost money, online doesn’t. Clocks cost money, online doesn’t. Recording moves isn’t easy, online does it for you. Analysis is tedious, online does it in seconds.
If you send too many requests from the same IP it can look like a DDOS attack. That being said I have never had issues while playing with friends from a school.
Use a vpn next time for some of the logins? Maybe that would help? Or stagger them? Where you dont all login at the same exact time?

Or ...wait a minute.

Your school has a chess club....and you dont have clocks...OR BOARDS?

Are you home schooled?
my words, the adventure of getting the stuff together for a school chess club is a fun one.

We do have boards and clocks, but they are really small and hard to play bullet chess with. Anyway, it was disappointing to get our ip blocked just when the tournament was about to start.
Ask contact@lichess.org and mention your school or club IP address.
