Is a Chess Coach Worth It? - A perfect Guide!

Motivation and discipline are key. If you lack those, not even a coach can save you.

This seems too optimistic. Nowadays I'm not sure most players can become masters at all. And those that do (except for the exceptionally talented) probably take more like 10 years, as in your progress chart.

Yeah, I agree. I would say that at least 98% of chess players stand no chance of ever reaching master level, no matter how hard they work for it.
Chess coaching is great regardless of how much you improve from the coaching. You can access active professional players as coaches. Imagine trying to get tennis lessons from an active pro playing in grand slams and what that cost would be if possible.

If I don't have games of my own to review I look at important games from my coaches tournaments or ask them questions about chess culture.

When they play in tournaments I follow the tournament closely.

I try to take one lesson two hours long per week but varies based on availability of my coaches. I plan to continue indefinitely no matter my strength.
You neglected to mention one of the more obvious alternatives to a chess coach; namely to join an (OTB) chess club, It's typically alot cheaper, you get access to stronger opponents (than yourself) in a more casual setting than a competitive tournament and it's very likely that they hold group lessons or that some of the top players are willing to explain something 1on1 between games. Such "private lessons" won't be on a regular schedule though, and most clubs meets once a week so the frequency recommended in the article typically won't happen.

Still, good budget option and likely good fun. OTB chess is quite different from online chess from a social standpoint.
Message me and I will donate you a free chess lesson around $10.
