@RR007
I started playing when I was but a child a whopping 4 years ago. This "game" has taught me many valuable lessons that I can unsarcastically apply to my every day life.
1. The community has provided me with meeting new, enlightened, and intelligent individuals over the years. I have had the pleasure and opportunities in working with some of the greatest thinkers of this "game" and to this day still love and enjoy working with people on proofs, studying, preparations, or just enjoy playing. The IAF has become somewhat of a respectable organization, that literally started from scratch and is now home to 500+ members and is hosting a live event in the Netherlands next year, which I am hopeful to attend. Overall the community has provided me with more than I can explain in terms of people, organizations, and opportunities.
2. The "game" itself also teaches many valuable lessons. For example, absolute vs relative gains, material imbalance, the power of having many people working together vs a small group, positional advantages...and note all of these can apply to real life! It also teaches you about the different aspects of certain situations, how they can be broken down...and in addition to this teaches you that one really bad choice can affect you forever...but at the same time that many smart, calculated decisions can provide you with some very good opportunities.
3. This "game" has also allowed me to see how there are other people similar to me affected in the same way. There are hundreds of people within antichess who play on the daily, for multiple hours, and are always playing in large antichess events. There are many people in the world that are interested in things similar to this, and are willing to spend time in their life working towards bettering themselves. It has allowed me to see that although there are a lot of cheaters in this world, there are also many people that are willing to help you and make you better.
Maybe you were curious, maybe did not understand, or maybe have not played enough on lichess to feel the effects, but there is not doubt in my mind that lichess has made a positive difference in not tens, not hundreds, not event thousands of lives, but more lives that you could ever possibly hope to know. In short, thank you lichess, you have changed many lives.
Lol tbh this was originally kind of a joke, but at the same time not at all :O
