who likes the new +500 -500 rating range?

@Alakaluf Before the system allows you to play people at a specific range, from 600-2900. So this new feature sucks because now you can only play people with 1000 points of you. You will end up finding less opponents.
The new system gives much less control to the player as to the rating range of their opponent than before. It doesn't just prevent from playing beyond 500 elo, more importantly it prevents from creating a challenge that player with a slightly lower/higher rating can't see. If you're 1900 and want to play someone in 2000-2200, you can't prevent a 1910 from taking your challenge first.

Meanwhile, in the previous situation, as both players had control of this range, nobody was forced to play with a much stronger/weaker player if they didn't want to. If they did, they had both agreed that their opponent's rating was in the desired range.

I'm yet to see a compelling argument for the new system. The commit in lichess code doesn't have any comment attempting to even explain why the new system would be better.
