The entire history of human race is history of racism, suffering and oppression. Along with the good things as well of course such as love and progress. To single out one type of people that suffered is wrong and unfair to others who suffered.

Let me remind you that Jews were marched into ovens when blacks were flourishing here in US in Harlem in those beautiful brownstones and booming republican economy. The way Russians or Chinese live today is FAR worse than anything blacks have these days, the village in Russia I spent summers in had no running water or electricity, the iron fist of the state killed many of my ancestors and family members, no trial or jury, just sent to gulags or just shot in the back of the head for no reason.

There is racism today, against whites. And against Asians who have better grades and yet are refused entry into their college since blacks are taken in with worse grades instead. I, and many other co-workers, didn’t get a promotion in a company I worked for, but a black woman did, because the company wanted to do it for political reasons. Even thou I and my co-workers were far more qualified. That is pure racism right there.

The problem is there are an unlimited amount of characteristics other than race in which people can feel oppressed, such as having a disability, having a low IQ, or being female or trans. For example, it's been proven that attractive people are chosen for jobs and promotions over less attractive people. If the resumes are equal, then the more attractive person gets the nod. But what do you say we do about this issue? Are there different levels of oppression depending on how many boxes are checked? I think the solution is to take responsibility instead of playing the victim all the time and relying on government handouts. I acknowledge the atrocities committed in the past, but ever since the civil rights movement, the rules have been the same for everybody.

One can even say Blacks have been put at an advantage, as now there are policies like affirmative action, which accepts Blacks into ivy league colleges over other races who scored higher on standardized tests and are more deserving. That's why Harvard was sued for its admission policies--it turns out trying to meet a racial quota in having a certain amount of Blacks in your school discriminates against other races, especially Asian Americans in this particular case. That's the problem with identifying with groups instead of being your own unique individual. Privilege comes in the form of being better looking, taller, smarter, richer, more talented, etc. One could argue race is one of the least determining factors of oppression. This obsession over race and gender will not get us anywhere.

Does anyone else have a strong urge to re-watch American History X after reading this thread, or is it just me?
EDIT
@Kusokosla Really? A thumbs-down? What do you have against American History X?

Because since you already watched that you should balance it out and watch something showing suffering of whites, you know like maybe being marched into ovens when blacks were doing great in much more recent history than slavery, or perhaps you may want to watch something about white slaves, or maybe a documentary educating you on some facts like the first slave owner in USA being black, the biggest slave holder in USA was black too, the biggest slave seller in the world was also black. There are white slaves and Asian slaves right now today, there is genocide of white people in South Africa, there is gross injustice in US against Asians not getting into college due to affirmative action favoring blacks. You know, balance out your viewing.
Umm...did you see the end of American History X? Or the beginning? The whole damn movie was about a white family that was torn apart by racism, for cryin' out loud! Reverse racism is a major plot point! Would you rather I rewatched Birth of a Nation or something?
BLM..... I think stupid not allow cops be rude with crowd, even if in crowd black.
Black Lives Matter ? Tell that to the many young black girls who are genitally mutilated by their own people. I don't see any BLM riots on their behalf.

These girls grow up not being able to enjoy sex and in many cases go through life in incredible pain and discomfort.

I hope Lichess will campaign for the rights of these women.
