Candidates Round 5: Gukesh Catches Nepomniachtchi, Peaceful Day in the Women's

Vidit should have won as Fabi's pawn sacrifice on a4 did not help his position and e5 sac was a clear desperate last ditch play.

Qa4 must be stopped and Kc2 has massive advantage, but the simpler b3 is also enough.

26. b3 Re2 (any move that doesnt advance the attack allows white to play h5)
27. Bb2 (blocks Qa2#) Qxc5 (threatens Qc2+ followed by Qxb2#)
28. Qc3! (stops Black's attack, the queens must be traded off as the queen cannot leave c5 as white would have Qxc6#) Qxc3
29. Bxc3 Rxf2
30. h5, stockfish gives white +1.4 after a few minutes, while material is equal, white has passed h pawn, control over the d file, and the bishop controls h8. Black is effectively 2-3 tempo behind white still in the reorganization of his defenses. Should be a comfy position even if you don't want to calculate the complexities of Kc2.
If I’m not mistaken, the title is wrong, Gukesh didn’t play nepo and nepo didn’t lose either.
Fabi has 3 points and gukesh 3.5 still fabi winning chances are mentioned higher why?

Maybe because Gukesh has played against the weakest players, and Fabi against the strongests. Or maybe Fabi is just better than Gukesh
