Technically everyone is your very very distant relative.
My family is connected to a guy who helped enslaved persons en route to (hopefully) freedom via the Underground Railroad back in the 1800s. Not that he was famous.
Edit to prevent future confusion: I'm American. The ancestor mentioned was American. I don't personally know a ton of details on what said ancestor did just that he was involved somehow.
