The lag seems inaccurate

Hello dear Lichess members,

unfortunately, it seems as though the lag, as displayed by the Lichess site, is not quite accurate. Indeed, it seems to take some time until the moves of my opponent appear on my screen, as I observed when comparing the real game I played to the real time playback. I found out about this when my opponent berserked me and seemed to take some time for the first few moves, whereas in retrospect I saw how he blitzed them out (the game is here: lichess.org/oxuuazWes9KG).

I am still glad that Lichess exists and I find it a really good website, but I'll never achieve a good rating if the lag is such that it renders me partly uncompetitive. Also, as can be seen from the game I was refering to, I have to choose "safe" strategies over complicated variations (although obviously I missed all the sacrifices on e6, as did my opponent), so that I can't practice my skills in complicated variations so well.

If it turns out that there is a developer who cares about this issue, I'll gladly share a screen recording.
"...I'll never achieve a good rating if the lag is such that it renders me partly uncompetitive."

I don't get it. Are you saying the site is lagging? Plenty of people have achieved "good" ratings (in particular, ratings a thousand points higher than mine or yours) despite this apparent site lag; if there's nothing stopping them, then what's stopping you? Why is "getting better at chess" not enough? On the other hand, if the site isn't lagging, then it's still a problem on your end, and I doubt there's much people here can do. So I don't think site lag has anything to do with whether or not you'll ever "achieve a good rating".

I have no comment on whether or not the site actually has problems, since I don't know anything about such things.
As above - there is little Lichess could do to remedy your lag. There are ways you could try and reduce it on your end though for instance by playing using a wired connection instead of wireless....
I've been told several times that the lag is on my end. I believe it must be true... however, it is still frustrating not actually having the same amount of time as the opponent. I feel your pain Andriod.
