Point refunds while provisional status

I noticed that I didn't receive a point refund for the game vs this player hadi1988, who was flagged for computer assistance. Is this because I was provisional or something? Just curious. Game was played about a week ago here: lichess.org/vwLMZCwnNXsg.

I also never received points back for this game: lichess.org/stjp2cNSJPW4. Most likely for the same reason: whatever that is.

Together that's over 150 points. lol? :)
wow.. so because I was so unlucky to have my first two standard games vs cheaters after the split... congratulations, heres -170pts and no refund. Fantastic.

Now I know I guess. It doesn't make me happier. Thanks for looking it up cyan.
Tbh it makes no sense why you wouldnt get your rating that you lost while being provisional back? I mean when you are provisional its even worse as you win or lose alot more rating per game. So you are unlucky enough to play some cheaters and basically start off 200 rating lower than you would... which now means you would need to play 10 to 20 games more to make up for it??? I have had this happen to me too at the start a while ago... I mean i just played through it, but maybe its a problem that should be addressed?
#4 I have unpopular opinions:
* Rating refunds never make sense
* But even if they did make sense, being provisional shouldn't affect how they work (ratings should be recomputed, not refunded)
* But also none of this matters in Glicko-2 or in Lichess and people are generally happy with how it works
My rapid rating was pretty bad compared to my level of play.I lost a couple of games in the start to lower rated players and my rating took a serious hit. Now I am playing good and people r suspecting me on my play as I could easily defeat lower rated players without much mistakes. I think this provisional rating formulae should be verified and improved. Not giving back rating points cause it was a provisional rating is seriously a mistake.LICHESS guys plz take this into due notice.
I assume you'd only be accused of sandbagging, and no amount of changes to the rating system or to refunds would help you in that case...
It doesnt matter, as it will fix itself in 5-10 more games.
Related: I don't mind that I didn't get my points back. But I'd have liked a notification that I'd lost to a cheater! My opponent went on to win 39 more rated games across several variants in three days (never drawing or losing a single one until an inexplicable draw in a winning position in her final game) and in any case my rating would have been too high.

Her play against me was inspirational, but I wasn't sure if she was calculating tactics uncannily quickly or if she was just really good at evaluating the relative value of material versus checks in 3-check, a variant I was new to.
Refund is nice to see but can be really misleading. If you're on the top of your rating (like highest ever or so) and then you get a refund, your rating gets totally unrelated to your real strength.
Still it would be hard to remove the refund mechanism without angering the community and as long as Glicko-2 is having no problems with that, why not have it? But why no refund when provisional?
