This happens a lot. The board is just white and there are no squares on it. Also, sometimes the game starts in "zen mode" and the board is gigantic so that a single rank fills the entire screen.

But it was just for 1 day.
I even played a game and won when my board was weird.
And when i played with zen mode, i couldn't move some of my pieces.
So i lost that game.

Are you using a phone? If so this happens a lot on phone's and other mobile devices. To fix this, I usually restarted the app and it fixed by itself. I do not have an answer if this happens on a computer as I have never seen anything like this on a computer.

Zen mode just hides your and your opponent's rating while playing a game. It makes the board larger, but you can still see the whole board with all the pieces. I think you have mentioned a bug! I have switched my appearance to Zen mode just for a moment , but there isn't any problem for me. lichess.org/i7z1Xh0f . No, I'm running Firefox on Linux. Zen mode is randomly turned on when games start and it makes the board so gigantic that it doesn't fit on the screen.
