Idea: Personal Databases/Openings explorer.

Hello Lichessers!

I very much feel the need for - and think of it a good idea - that one has the option in analysis board (or a seperate tab) that you get to see the games played by yourself only.

For example, currently there is the option for openings explorer, which is great, but it contains all games recorded by lichess.
But imagine that you want to learn all the moves that you have encountered in a certain position, and obviously, you want to improve against that.
Now the problem with a global database in that respect, is that you don't know what to include in your repertoire, since you don't know (or don't remember) if any particular position you encounter, is one you have ever been in in one of your (many) games.
Alternatively of course, you could go in your game archive and open EVERY single game one by one to check what you have encountered, but that would take a big effort to do, understandably. Especially when you can easily have a couple o' thousands of games in your personal history.

Now what do you guys tink of this idea? So an additional opening explorer ONLY including your own games, so you could potentially learn quicker, and build a solid repertoire?

Let me know what you think guys, and if you think that that is something you would want as well!
Thanks guys, keep it coming! We have a 100% positive record on this idea, according to the respones. Let's see some more opinions :D
This has already been suggested several times, also by myself. It was included in the online poll where useres could vote for new features.

I'm eagerly waiting for this option as well. Actually I'm wondering why this hasn't been included yet. Should not be too hard to realize from the technical standpoint I believe. Let's hope this will come one day.
True, but if we can observe that there are many followers of the idea right this moment, we might be able to somehow enforce the task upon the moderators/programmers/boss whatever...
So it would be nice to actually see how many people will react, and show their opinion, so that we can indeed take the next step and approach the personnel in question :)
I hope that lichess implement an opening trainer - here is my attempt that steps through opening play (for King's Gambit) and you have to spot the mistake when it happens. When you miss the blunder you can view the game it was extracted from to understand what move the computer suggests to exploit it.

Lower rated players are probably interested when their opponent makes a blunder to pounce on it - not the training a good player might find useful. Since the puzzles are auto generated from the lichess database I think the lichess team could offer quite an extensive training tool.

Say what? What are you thinking? "Enforce the task" ??? Lichess is all by volunteers, 100% free.
I strongly suggest viewing thibault's video (the boss) regarding his views on adding new features. Might add a new perspective. New ideas are implemented, new code gets written by volunteers willing to take on a project. If your idea is so great, write the code yourself. Everything is open sourced. Add it to opening explorer.

Seems your asking lichess to do the work you can do yourself by downloading your games, making your own game files. An issue not presented in the proposal. Personal games with moves that go beyond explorer, but only available to you, and can be accessed for evaluation by only one side during play, is an unfair advantage, and may be considered cheating?

By Golly ... do it ! Write the code if it is so easy and then convince the lichess team it's worth. Keep in mind potential issues with every new added "feature". If members had their way, there would be 100's of new features weekly, all catering to personal preferences.

Again... view thibaults thoughts on "features". It is very enlightening and just might change your perspective.
Thanks. Good chess.
