10 Must-Read Non-Chess Books Every Chess Player Should Explore

I never expected Lichess to post such cringe.

If you unironically can appreciate these books, you need to get better reading material ASAP.

This is literal fast food garbage equivalent for your mind.
A veritable list of sh*t nonfiction - no wonder coming from someone who is a fan of scammer James Altucher.

Is there a way to not see these blog posts by this promoter guy?

I already blocked him but I keep seeing his blog posts.

I'm coming back to this thread, after venting my disagreement yesterday about the presence of such blog posts on lichess, because I feel the need to explain why such content does not belong here.

I play chess for two reasons: for its aesthetics and because it's an escape from reality, a reality that is drowning me and you in a bottomless lake of bullshit daily. Whether you turn on the tv, or you browse on the internet, or even in more traditional media, you constantly encounter the life-saving advice of a myriad charlatans: HABITS OF SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE, HOW TO TURN OVER YOUR LIFE, THINGS THEY DON'T TEACH YOU AT HARVARD, WHAT YOU DO WRONG AND HOW TO CORRECT IT. Even if you turn off all media and social media, your relatives, friends and colleagues will make sure you are aware of the latest idiocy that floats on the sea of life-coach following simpletons.

Chess and lichess in particular is an escape from all that. Lichess is an oasis in the modern internet, a bastion where the simplicity of the early 1990s internet is still to be found. Keep it that way: clean.

I would love to see articles about chess news, or about chess itself. Articles on specific games, openings, players, etc. This avalanche of generic advice is useless. Especially if you are a good player, just write something about the game itself. There are countless non-GMs who can write self-help books. Literally anybody who knows some language can write a self-help book. Even drunkards at the pub give life advice, and for free too!
Wow, what a list of books. Is this guy really a grandmaster?
"Personal development" is a scam.
Nobody lives on an island, we need others.

You'll much better off with a good coach than with one of those books full of BS.
This was great! Much appreciated, will check out some of your suggestions. Thank you!
