An access to all available games would be good. If it is impossible, I'd like to know its reason.
just a guess but the opening explorer seems to stop being applicable after several moves, maybe the DB for it only maps out a few moves and there are only 40M unique combos?
No. There are more than 1 game in many lines.

There are 40 million analyzed rated games. Perhaps a coincidence though?
lichess.org/games/search?sort.field=d&sort.order=desc&analysed=1Isn't the Opening Explorer only indexing rated games where the average rating is >1600? From searching in the games explorer, 40 out of 270 million seems about right for the number of games meeting those requirements.
