Maybe this has been done already somehow (if so please delete this thread, I've been away), but I would like the option to simply not see computer assistance users as possible opponents when they seek games, nor allow them to see/accept my game seeks.
Not sure how accurate the lichess algorithm/human labelling is on this, but I can't help but get a bit annoyed when I see that someone I am playing has been pegged as a cheater, yet is still allowed to play me without my foreknowledge or permission (if I had the choice).
I like to think it would also cut down on cheaters if they had a hard time getting a game outside of the pool of honest players, leaving them to wonder if they lost due to cheating vs. other suspected computer users.
I don't think it's a feature, but I'm willing to support this since I wouldn't want to play against cheaters as well. I wouldn't know if they're still cheating or if they're just good. If they think they deserve a second chance, they can email contact@lichess.org
Yeah, I bet if people were polled they would want the chance to remove cheaters from their opponent pool, not seeing much downside to this from an honest user perspective..
Related question: does anyone know why lichess chooses to keep such accounts active? Seems to me that if they are certain enough to label someone a de facto cheater they should ban them (?)
Ok, so I think in my opinion that they should take the same stance with muting. When they mute a player, you're essentially put into a pool with other players who've been muted. I don't think there's a name for it yet, but who knows. Anyways I don't think LiChess should outright deny them the right to play chess against a human because I find it myself, boring to play against a bot. So with that in mind, I think they should put cheaters in a pool where they go against other cheaters. Except it's a little hard to do this since it's publicly known they've cheated, so if they do know they're tagged, they'll either quit or make a new account. I'm willing to bet those who still play as a labelled cheater aren't very many to actually go with the plan that I mentioned because they've either already made another account or just quit. I apologize for being redundant.
I certainly wouldn't mind an option to pre-mute players known for abusive chat usage, not many people enjoy that kind of stuff and those that enjoy insults and trash talk could simply opt out.
As for bans, I think there are few enough online chess players relative to the internet-connected world that IP bans could be decently well used in case of those who sign up and cheat on multiple accounts. Regardless, I would like the option to be informed of the "cheater" flag on a person before I accept a game with them, so that I can decline if I don't want the extra aggravation of playing against a known (perceived) cheater.
#1 Based on the reports in this forum as well as the Q&A, I don't think that cheaters can see seeks or find opponents (other than other cheaters). And that seems consistent from what I remember hearing from a tech talk and a podcast:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHP5AdRlRNYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar_uQpeAv2sWe do exactly what #4 suggests. Sometimes we may mark a cheater while your game is in progress, that way you would be playing with someone who is actually marked. Other than that, you won't get paired with them.
