I play mostly Chess 960 and 99% of the time I play on my mobile devices, when I put a seek for a 5 min 960 game I guess that only users on desktop systems can notice my seek so severely limiting my chances of finding a game (missing out on all the other mobile users) which makes it a long time to get an opponent. I am happy to play most blitz time controls so don't get to see fellow seeks such as 3+2, 2+12 etc.
I think the same assumptions can be made about the other variants. If lichess did this then you will see much quicker pairings.
The reason why i did not include Standard Chess list is that pairings are very quick so not a problem for them.
