Game did not ask to claim victory when opponent left

I had a game where my opponent left the match and did not appear in the match again the whole time, yet I had to wait for the remaining 12 minutes on their clock. Here is the game link: lichess.org/WJLv6EVO3Rcr

i guess you can claim win after few minutes only if your opponent had left the site but if he /she had left the game and is still hanging around in the site then you cant claim win

Yeah in about 1/6 of my classical games end with the opponent leaving the game or just keeping the tab open and resigning at the last second or playing on, in a dead lost position.

I think people do this in hopes of the opponent leaving the tab to do something else while the opponents clock goes down and then claiming a win. Because if you don't know just leaving the tab makes your light turn grey and lets your opponent claim a win.

Happened to me once, never again.
