Conspiracy theories..why do governments try to belittle them?

Governments all over the world expend huge resources trying to debunk what They term "conspiracy theories".Yet these "theories" persist.

Bring out your conspiracy theorems here..let the world know the truth.

Because generally the government is involved and they do whatever they can to hide the truth.

All those people you see moving around in ostensibly "random directions" whilst using their mobile phones are in fact government operatives engaged on a simulated Brownian motion pattern in order to lull the honest people into believing that they are not,in fact, being closely observed and monitored.

My "Brownian movement unifying equation(soon to be almost completed)" will expose them for what they are.

Generally the conspiracy theories that are "debunked" are probably not theories at all, just myths. Like flat earth, aliens, etc. Because those theories are very popular and are arguably growing in their popularity. I think the government covers up more covert things like military weapons (which are probably being stored in Area 51, not aliens) and murders/cover ups of foreign entities.

If you want to know about real conspiracies, read Johy Taylor Gatto. He revelaed the true history and purpose of public school system. It is nightmare.

The term "conspiracy theory" seems to have become overloaded due to so much well documented conspiracy FACT, which remains only "theory" to the willfully ignorant. Gatto's work is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how people have been dumbed-down and brainwashed, in what ways, by whom, and for what purposes.

This overload I think is partly why "fake news" became the favored label of dismissal by mainstream media.

The study of conspiracy theory is mostly a study of how people are being lied to, the term being used as a way do ridicule or dismiss a theory (or unwanted discovery of truth) without addressing any evidence for it. There are notable exceptions, such as the flat earth movement and a million crazy theories, for instance about ETs, which I'm sure largely serve to help discredit anything that the media decides to throw under the "conspiracy theory" (or "fake news") umbrella.

Because it's difficult to suppress information in the age of information, the lines between fact and fiction are being deliberately obscured by a relentless dis-info blitz.

This is where critical thinking comes in, keeping a healthy skepticism when evidence is scant, (as well as calling out the blatant dis-logic such as the "evidence" put forth for the flat earth theory), but also being willing to take in information and process it to its logical conclusions when there IS valid evidence, even if those conclusions are at odds with previously held beliefs.

In so many cases, I would say the majority of what gets labeled as "conspiracy theory" or "fake news" by the media, there is ample evidence to support the "theory", often to the point of proving it beyond a reasonable doubt, but even so, most people will believe the sound bites of some perceived authority like a mainstream media news outlet, a politician, "reptuable scientist" etc., and will refuse to even look at anything that receives a dismissive label by those authorities.

Of course the CIA killed JFK, 911 was an inside job, vaccines, GMO food, and fluoridated water, are for depopulation, creating lifetime customers of big pharma, and mass distribution of neurotoxins to facilitate a dumbed-down and docile population with little potential for activation of higher consciousness, anthropogenic "global warming" is a hoax. The "health care" system is also designed to fleece the public... like the taxation, corporatism, and inflationary fiat currency it is based upon. Democracy is the ritualized sacrifice of conscience. The government has illegally kidnapped, tortured, and experimented upon thousands (including its own citizens and soldiers) in the most brutal of ways imaginable, including many children. Energy should be nearly free except for artificial scarcity by technology suppression and government regulation.

The conspiracy is driven by a cult engaging regularly in satanic ritual abuse, pedophilia, and human trafficking.

The problem is people find it easy and convenient to dismiss these "theories" without doing hardly a modicum of research into their basis.

do governments actually care? if the conspiracy theory isn't harmful they literally have no reason to care and mostly don't care

John Tayor Gatto documenter and explained in public lectures the whole history and purpose of govermnemtal public schooling system. It's not an easy subject to hear; you really need to have guts to hear what he has to say. For example, all schoold in the world have same 6 functions:

1) The adjustive or adaptive function. Schools are to establish fixed habits of reaction to authority. This, of course, precludes critical judgment completely. It also pretty much destroys the idea that useful or interesting material should be taught, because you can't test for reflexive obedience until you know whether you can make kids learn, and do, foolish and boring things.

2) The integrating function. This might well be called "the conformity function," because its intention is to make children as alike as possible. People who conform are predictable, and this is of great use to those who wish to harness and manipulate a large labor force.

3) The diagnostic and directive function. School is meant to determine each student's proper social role. This is done by logging evidence mathematically and anecdotally on cumulative records. As in "your permanent record." Yes, you do have one.

4) The differentiating function. Once their social role has been "diagnosed," children are to be sorted by role and trained only so far as their destination in the social machine merits - and not one step further. So much for making kids their personal best.

5) The selective function. This refers not to human choice at all but to Darwin's theory of natural selection as applied to what he called "the favored races." In short, the idea is to help things along by consciously attempting to improve the breeding stock. Schools are meant to tag the unfit - with poor grades, remedial placement, and other punishments - clearly enough that their peers will accept them as inferior and effectively bar them from the reproductive sweepstakes. That's what all those little humiliations from first grade onward were intended to do: wash the dirt down the drain.

6) The propaedeutic function. The societal system implied by these rules will require an elite group of caretakers. To that end, a small fraction of the kids will quietly be taught how to manage this continuing project, how to watch over and control a population deliberately dumbed down and declawed in order that government might proceed unchallenged and corporations might never want for obedient labor.
