Marathon ≤ 2400

The original marathon doesn't change.
You invite the top 500 in a championship.
It doesn't even need to be similar to the marathon.
What I think could be good is creating Closed Championships after the Results of the Marathon.

They would be indirectly creating a Marathon Database of high caliber.
> If this did happen, 2200 could be a good threshold - if you are over 2200 you are able to play in 'Elite' arenas.

Thanks for the ping, @TheForkPower
Elite, rated above 2200 in bullet or blitz belongs to 95 percentile. Again, we exclude just 5% of the players on our site.
So that cannot be a good threshold as well.
People under 1800 never achieve trophies. That could be one - but again, I am against the suggestion to rating restrict marathons in general.

> I played for (I dont know) 18 hours losing more than winning (as usual in the marathons), at some point is difficult to deal with the fact that someone gets the same points in 6 hours, hahahhahahaa.

That issue will not change in rating restricted marathons. Well, it might change for you if we set the threshold slightly above your rating.
But there still always be those stronger players who latejoin the event to secure an easy trophy with few hours of play, being less tired or tilted - and they will push people out who were there for countless hours. Competitive chess is, was and will remain cruel, you know. :<

I remember someone suggested in forum to give trophies to everyone with a certain amount of games - because that is something everyone could achieve.
However, the conclusion was that it would not work that way - since people will just "farm" that amount of games with extreme berserking, quick draws or playing carelessly. Like, if everyone farms the amount, noone plays "for real".
Then, the modified suggestion was to measure the amount games in the playing time spent in the event - but also that had downsides and was exploitable somehow.

So, I lack an idea how to improve marathons to make it for less stronger players attractive that they can achieve a visible trophy on their profile.
To me, everyone who participates in marathons with dedication is a winner. Everyone is a part of the event!
See you guys in the winter one - will not come back to this topic - so wishing you guys good skills and best of luck in advance there :-))

Although I would definitely like rating-restricted marathons, realistically I don't think it would work out for reasons already mentioned and people might start keeping their ratings lower while they are really much stronger just to be able to participate, and that would probably be a big problem (at least I think so)
How about a Daily Light Week-End Marathon.

The start time is not the same for every time zone.

Set the time to 8 am to start and pauses at 8 pm. The games finish and none are started until the following day.

Let the players rest and continue the second 12 hours the following day.
You could even add break times and lunch periods by time zones.

So it would be Saturday and Sunday during the day for everyone. A much healthier chess marathon.
