Why was it a draw?

Why does it draw when the opponent's time is up? This is ridiculous. And I lost points? Why?
Please post a link to the game so we can be sure.

But, if I had to guess, your opponent ran out of time, but it was impossible for you to checkmate. That is a draw, perfectly valid under FIDE rules.

And if I had to guess why you lost points, it would be because your opponent was lower-rated than you. Again, this is perfectly valid.
Could you have delivered checkmate with the pieces left on the board -- even if the opponent had tried to help you? If the answer is no, that's the usual explanation. For example, King and bishop vs. King simply can't create a mate. So the best you can do as EITHER party is draw. Time isn't all there is to it, and that's actually pretty fair.
I found the game.

@KARACA63, you only lost 1 rating point, and you were in a completely losing position, so I would be happy to have the draw.
You loose rating points if its a draw like if you are 1800 and your opponent is 1700 the high rated player looses Rating points. Dosent matter even if you can checkmate
@BigBlunderGuy Yes I lost only 1 point, but I think I have to earn a point, because He lost, and I win. Even if it's because of the end of time. Just his time is run out. It's not fair.
Not sure which point are you debating on.
1) Do you agree that the draw is fair ?
2) Do you agree that it is fair for higher rated players to lose points to lower rated players when they draw them ?

If its 1 (Which I think is from your complaint), time running out is not the ONLY condition for loss. You should have enough pieces to checkmate which you didnt.
I'm sure the Texans felt the same way after the Alamo.
