the problem is not Madrid but the time it took to complete: 5 years. and the turn of Mbappe's departure too, in administrative paperwork formalities rather than a real thank you to Ligue 1 and Paris, using his last season as a farewell tour. I think Flo Perez didn't give him a choice, he's a bad influence by trying to ask Mbappe for 5 years "join us to win the UCL!".
I think it will be a personal failure for Mbappe but a victory on a sporting and popular level. an intelligent choice would have been to do like Messi: stay at least 10 years in the same club until winning the Champions League. we will see if Harry Kane will gain what he imagined he would gain by coming to Bayern

I just did a quick google search and Liverpool sold the most kits in 2022-2023 with 1.8M total. So, 10M does not seem right. And I think what you want to count is how many additional shirts will RM sell if Mbappe is on the team. RM fans will buy shirts as usual whether Mbappe is on the team or not.
