Board only has Kings, pawns, and rooks

Something is really messed up with LiChess right now.
When I start a quick match game, the starting board only has the two kings, the 16 pawns, and the 4 rooks. Bishops, knights, and queens are invisible.
Even the CAPTCHA board on this screen to post this question is missing the knights, bishops, and queens. I had to click on the CAPTCHA chess board on empty squares to find where the invisible queen was. Then I was able to move the invisible queen so that it check mated the visible black king and allow me to post this question.

Could you describe the issue a little more? (i.e., is this a reoccurring problem? when did this happen? do all boards, including the ones on lichess TV have this issue?)
