@soccerfreak1213 your opponent got a point cuz they were not on a draw streak, but you were.
Losing a game does not end the streak, since you could always lose on purpose.
Both drawing rules are there to limit quick arranged drawings at the end of tournaments. (at chesscom's Arena Kings, players often agreed to just move their knights back and forth and draw within 4 moves, until chesscom finally intervened to stop this behavior)
