Most of the Arena Tournaments have hasty time controls. 3+0, 5+0, 10+0, etc. This deprives chess of its beauty. Don't you hate it when you get promising position, but opponent plays for time only?
We need some tournaments with minimum time increment. This way you don't blow overwhelming positions. 3+1 instead of 3+0, 8+3 instead of 10+0. For bullet chess 1+1 looks great.
Do you agree? What time control would you see as ideal?

The issue is players don't play increment games. I mean, there are some who do, but way less then non-increment.
If I knew why, I would say. I like increment myself.

Players don't play increment games because there're few available, most of the tournaments offer no increment, that's why.
All FIDE competitions are with increment.
Increment avoids these stupid KR vs. KR flagging contests.
People play here without increment, because lichess tournaments are without increment.
I'd say Arena is only suitable for really fast games, for the simple reason that if you actually use your time you don't stand any chance of winning the tournament.
I'm a big fan of longer time controls and increments, but this problem with Arena tournaments is fundamental, and will not be solved by adding increments.
True Blitz is incements free. If you're going to have increments in Blitz, you might as well just play Rapid or Classical.
That is true - traditional blitz is increment free. Hard to argue with that. But how about some variety on Lichess? Blitz with time increment deserves the right to exist!
What about bullet chess? 1+1 is nice format in my opinion.
And finally RAPID. I personally play games with time control longer than 5 minutes to execute some strategic ideas, not to simply win on time. The only format I've seen here is 10+0! Rapid should definitely be with some time increment! Let's say 8+3.

FIDE World Championship blitz is 3+2. FIDE blitz tie breakers for the classical world championship are 5+3. In your opinion Carlsen and co do not play true blitz?
