I have lost sound

Hello. No sound is made upon making a move. A new issue as I’ve been a player for a while. I’ve tried the obvious, logging out of lichess/safari/the computer and then logging back in. Playing around with options under my profile. Still silent. Would anyone have any suggestions that might help? Would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Spiney.

Perhaps it might help to check if sound works in other parts of Safari (for example by playing a YouTube video?)

Press on SpineyNorman it should be in the right hand corner, a little drop down should come up with the options

Press on Sound,
A drop down should come up with the options
Sound
Silent
Standard
Piano
NES
SFX
Futuristic
Robot
Pentatonic
Speech

Select any one of these but silent.
Also make sure the bar with the circle on it is brought fairly high, the higher u bring it, the louder the sound will be.
Also make sure that you have the sound turned up on your device.
You may have to look at your user manual to find this,
On phone it is on the side of it.
On tablet usually it is on the edge somewhere

Check if the lichess tab on your browser is muted.

It happened to me too, sometimes. Problem was temporary solved by force stopping the app then running it again. Not happening anymore on my new phone though (Android 11)

Also, you have to click at least once into the tab, otherwise it will not play any sound. This is to prevent webpages to play unwanted sounds.

Thanks to all who responded. It may be a safari issue, as if I log on with chrome the sound is fine. Mystifying, but I have practical solution. Kind regards, Spiney.

It did it again, right now! Sound's gone in the app, Android 11. I force stop the app and when I run it again, sound is back.
I can add that when same thing happened on my previous phone, sound could be muted for only one player at first: my pieces could make no sound on the board all of a sudden while my opponent's still did. Then after a few moves both colours was muted, all sounds gone.
