tournament flaw

lichess.org/tournament/HapK9S9O

I was playing this touranment and this guy vovi1 and i were #1 and #2 the entire time. But we only got matched up once at the end because he would pause his tournament status until right after i started my game to avoid playing me. We almost never even played once.

the tournament should be set up to pair the top players somehow if some player is trying to periodically pause to avoid playing each other. it should somehow recognize when that is happening.

the problem is how you going to tell the difference between pausing to doge someone and pausing because i need a glass of water they both could end up taking similiar times
and if you say because they unpause when you start a game
then people will learn to wait a few secs then press play or me who hits play by chance then gets flagged for doing it yet i went to get water

because he did it like 10 different times
you don't get it... they pause being in the tournament.. so you can't get flagged for that. it's like unjoining and rejoining the tournament
Well it's an exploit, but not a bannable one ... it also costs him time of play (especially costly as it's ultrabullet), so he got way less games than you

I'd say there are other reasons for him tying and winning by performance ... you not only had more games but also a lower average of opponents

yeah how would they know that you were actually dodging a player and if they did that then maybe you were having a break and then you just got flagged and you would be like How did I get flagged? This is so unfair.
