As you know, I'm a massive fan of this site. However, I find these bars distracting when I'm playing chess. I don't know why, but they're an eyesore and in the fast games I play (1+0/2+0/3+0) I lose time because my eye keeps flitting to them. I think they just clutter the chat box a little. I don't think they're necessary.
You know both players have joined the game by the green circle.
You know when a draw offer/takeback has occurred, as it changes on the right of your vision.
Similarly, you know when a resignation or rematch offer has occurred.
There is no need to talk in quick games of 1+0/2+0, and if there is, you can talk at the start or end. If you're talking in a longer game, you have time to check the chatbox.
