What has chess given on you in life

I first put my Excel skills to use re-arranging and making sense of the computer analysis output of Chessmaster 3000, long before I use Excel for work.

I still do it today, in emulation.
I first experimented with digital books by reading the digital version of Logical Chess - Chernev. (I bought 5 hard copies from Amazon. 1 in descriptive, 1 in algebraic, 3 copies for gifts to other people).

I download it from a "pirate" website. (I can't tell you where that is, copyright . . . blah . . . blah . . . blah).

For me, chess was the model for everything.
I used to be a USCF member. Played chess in a real USCF chess club. Got my monthly Chess Life magazine.

Later in life, I discovered ballet at the local ballet school performances. Same thing. Pointe Magazine. Same thing. There's a whole cottage industry around every art.

Once you have a model in one art, you understand every art.
Being honest, nothing... all I know is that I am bad at it, and ig I learned more about the political and mental competitions between the Cold War, except idrc about that. I just play for fun, that is all, I try to improve, but I know I have no chance in even passing 1700 on anything.

I see that chess not NOT given you the understanding of time.

I played chess, face to face, in a USCF chess club, time control was 90 minutes for 40 moves + 1 hour.

I played chess on Yahoo with a modem connected to an analog telephone line, using America Oline (AOL) as the Internet Service Provider.

I played chess on Chess dot com, before Chess dom com banned me for speaking my mind.

It is warm season, I'm playing tennis. Once the cold season begins, I will play chess.

Did I mention that I have JERGER wind up chess clock? Jerger went out of business.

Did I mention I play chess face to face, in a "brewpub"?

The way people played chess 100 years ago, like I came from the time of The Age of Innocence (Edith Wharton) or something. And I write down the moves with a Preppy Fountain pen! (Like it was in The Age of Innocence when the fountain pen was first invented.)

Online chess is a new thing.
See? See how chess is a model for life? Like Online dating is a new thing. There used to be face-to-face first dating.

Like I came out of The Age of Innocence.

Chess game me an understanding of the TV series Highlander.

If you met a person who is centuries old (but look young) you wouldn't know, because you only know what what you know TODAY.

Chess allows a person to reach back into history, all the way back to the Mahabharata, back in the days when Elephants were used in wars.

You play chess and do a "Highlander flashback" to way way way back in the days.
