Tournaments for low rated players

Not sure if it's been suggested before, but what would people think about having some tournaments for lower rated players. I would love to play in the existing tournaments but losing 95% of the games wouldn't be fun. I'm thinking classical but any time category would be cool. Maybe make it 1500 rated and below? Thoughts?

It's suggested daily, and it came third in the recent poll about features to implement.

Currently you get paired with players around your position in the tournament, so in theory you should be paired with lower rated if you join late (unless there are none because they all are scared to lose against the high rated)

That's something chess.com has over lichess! But I'm sure Thibault and his team will fix that :)

Yeah I have that problem too when I play standard and crazyhouse. I am not very good so i end up losing in tournaments because I always end up losing. Then I don't feel like playing anymore. Sometimes when we are supposed to be paired with people close to our rating it takes forever or I don't even get to play them. It can be annoying sometimes.

Thanks for all the feedback! The one thing I noticed is that in most tournaments I'm significantly lower rated than almost all the players (I'm 1100, haha). And the lowest rated players in the classical tournaments are at least 1400 (for the most part). If I play in those tournaments I would lose all my games, and that would cause me to be discouraged with the game. Anyway, thanks to Lichess for considering the idea!

@andrereale. Thanks for your feedback. I'm not suggesting that if one was lower rated they would be REQUIRED to play in lower rated tournaments, I'm just suggesting an option for us terrible players. Thanks again!

i agree, lichess for the tournament is very bad.

for 1500-1600 elo players (like me), is lessful to join a tournament (full of 2000+ players), and i cannot enjoy.

better chess.com for the tournaments.

in every sports there are tornaments for categories of players.
in soccer, tennis, chess....

This would be an awesome feature. I mean, in every mode besides Atomic and KoTH I'm not a very good player, so I would love a feature that allows ELO limitations in games, for the lower-tier players and the higher-tier players.
